Chiropractic Care for your Health

Simply put, chiropractic care is a form of alternative medicine that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of neuromuscular disorders. It is based on the theory that misalignments in the spine can cause health problems and that manipulating the spine can restore health.

The goal of chiropractic care is to optimize health. And our focus is on overall health, because the relationship of the spine to our nervous system goes hand-in-hand. Misalignment of the spine can cause a multitude of health issues ranging from stress, neck pain, reduced range of motion, weakened immune system and loss of energy among many others.

Through proper chiropractic adjustments, you will realize reduced pain caused by muscle spasms, joint inflammation and nerve irritation. Additionally, chiropractic care helps reduce chronic pain through proper alignment of the spine which decreases the tension in back muscles. Using a combination of soft tissue techniques and manipulation we can help improve range of motion in the spine and other joints. This can lead to improved flexibility and mobility. And chiropractic adjustments can help to increase energy levels as well, by allowing the body to work more efficiently. Improved alignment of the spine can reduce the amount of strain placed on the muscles and nerves, leading to decreased fatigue.

We all have experienced back and neck pain. And many times, we just “walk it off” or take a pain relief medicine, only to have it return again and again.  Our focus is to eliminate the pain by addressing the cause. By utilizing spinal adjustive techniques, soft tissue techniques like massage, physical therapies and through dietary and nutritional counseling we can get to the root of the pain and put you on a path to a pain-free future.

Chiropractic can also address the pain associated with repetitive tasks that we do every day. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is experienced as a numbness and tingling in the hand and arm caused by nerve compression in the wrist or anywhere along the median nerve such as the pronator teres muscle.  If anything squeezes or irritates the median nerve in the carpal tunnel space, it can lead to carpal tunnel syndrome. It’s important to remember that there is often no one single cause of carpal tunnel syndrome. It’s often a combination of factors that is to blame. Chiropractic techniques such as manipulation of the wrist, elbow and spine can help reduce the pressures on the nerve that lead to carpal tunnel. If identified early enough we can avoid Carpal Tunnel Surgery. Since we started using PEMF to address CTS our success rate has jumped through the roof in avoiding surgery.

With the goal of your overall health in mind, we combine a variety of techniques to address soft tissue problems. By combining Soft Tissue Massage and Myofascial release techniques to your chiropractic treatment, we provide additional benefits for pain management, injury recovery,  and many other issues. In Massage therapy, moderate pressure is applied to manipulate the soft tissues, muscles, ligaments and tendons. This helps increase the blood flow to help restore flexibility and promote healing.

Myofascial release techniques help to break up fibrotic adhesions and scar tissue that are the result of old injuries and faulty tissue repair, interfering with normal function and biomechanics. Adhesions can lead to muscle weakness, dysfunction and/or nerve entrapments in the upper and lower extremities resulting in pain, tingling and numbness. Adhesions along the spine most often looks like stiffness and tightness.  When adhesions along the spine are ignored and not addressed, then spinal degeneration will begin to occur. Scar tissue is the result of the inflammatory process due to acute injury, chronic strain and/or repetitive motion.  By addressing the adhesions we can get better results from the chiropractic manipulation and rehabilitation.
